Lycanthropes would appear to be back in vogue – director Joe Johnston (Jurassic Park III (2001)) and screenwriters Andrew Kevin Walker (Se7en (1995)) and David Self (Road to Perdition (2002), Thirteen Days (2000)) resist the temptation to ‘update’ the George Waggner-directed, Curt Siodmak-written, Lon Chaney Jr.-starring 1941 classic, instead preferring a ‘re-imagining’ of the werewolf yarn that started it all, at least as far as Hollywood was concerned.
Picturenose is embarking on a bit of a ‘films we have always meant to review’ trip, and this really is one I should have done some time ago. The greatest murder mystery, ever? Discuss.
