Picturenose

Welcome to Picturenose. The idea itself was born from two friends sitting in a bar talking about movies. You will be able to tell from the name of the site that you may not have to take it too seriously! We aim to bring you film reviews, news and other stuff which may interest the general (and the more specific) film-goer. Colin and James are your reviewers and writers - so here’s a brief introduction.

James is a film buff par excellence. He has a worryingly encyclopaedic knowledge of film. It’s almost as if he does nothing else except watch movies. In fact, many people would truly believe this to be the case if he were not often seen in public. In a bar. Talking about movies. This does seem to have paid off however, as he is a published film critic - in the national press, magazines and on the web. If you want a balanced and fair review of a movie, he’s your man.

Colin is also a huge fan of cinema and movies in general. His approach to criticism of the visual arts tends to involve a sofa, a stack of DVDs and any number of beers and snacks. You may find he has a more relaxed approach to reviewing. He does the techie part of the site too - so if there’s anything you find particularly terrible about it, please drop him a line. In addition, Picturenose benefits from regular contributions by our latest recruit, expat film and music journalist (and published author) Paul Stump.

So, if you’re out and about and happen to bump into Colin or James or Paul, please feel free to buy them a beer and chat about your favourite movie. Or, of course, you could just stay at home, read Picturenose and save yourself some money. Enjoy the site!
